Unit 16
Task M3
In this assignment I will be explaining how the results from measuring and managing
performance inform employee development. I will also explain which performance
indicators employers can use to show how an employee can develop their performance
through performance management. I have chosen NewVic for the purpose of this report .
Accelerated performance
The Appraisal system is an example of accelerated performance; this is when the
manager can refer back to previous year’s to measure the extent to which the target has
been achieved. Employees’ development done in NewVic is by allowing their employees
to be promoted to higher positions if they are meeting their targets. For example if a
business teacher is meeting his target of getting a 100% pass rate in his classes for his
students then he may be promoted to become the head of business. By promoting the
teacher as the head of business this would mean that the employer has trust in the
employee to do well in his/her job and to that they are able to be responsible and
manage the role. The employer will trust that the employee knows the rules and
regulation of the job and will work just as hard in the new job.
The accelerated promotion scheme is when new employees join the program in order to
move up the organisations hierarchy rapidly, the most common employees to join this
scheme is graduates therefore the programme is beneficial to them. For example in
NewVic a graduate may use this program to become an employee, they then will have to
work themselves from the bottom to top and get promoted as time goes on. This will
give them the chance to have experience in each level, and once they are near to the top
they will have become a developed employee.
Job rotation
Job rotation involves employees performing a number of different jobs, this allows them
to have a selection of job roles and as a result their motivation levels increases.
Job rotation helps to carry out different jobs in different levels. This means that an
employee would be benefited in the sense that they will have more experience as it is
being varied and their development at the task would increase. For example an
employee in NewVic may work in the reception however than be put in the library to
work. Job rotation allows staffs to work more than one job role with the same level of
pay. This is helpful as employees don’t get bored of their current job and also will be
able to achieve new experience which links to employee development. Another example
of job rotation could be in Debenhams. An employee may be put on tills to serve
customers and later on then put on the shop floor to recover the products.
Training
Training is an element of employment development that involves attending a course to
be trained for a specific job. For example in NewVic a P.E teacher will have to be trained
for a first aid course to be able to attend to student that may have injured themselves.
Another example would be in MAC the employees have to be trained as make up artist
