What is the value of qualitative research: with two approaches
The general value of qualitative research comes from the fact that it explores the
rich data that emerges from what people say and think and write about.
Sometimes, you can only know what people think by talking to them, not by
asking set questions. There is also specific value to particular approaches, such
as the non-judgmental, non-predictive nature of grounded theory, and also the
fact that discourse analysis is used to understand how the words we use about
our world actually defines that world, and helps to create it, rather than just
being a product of it.
