Ovary structure - ANSWER-Posterior and lateral to uterus, inside peritoneum. Two distinct layers- medulla is the inner part which contains blood vessels, lymphatic vessels and nerves. Cortex is where ovarian follicles are embedded, produces hormones. Fallopian tubes function - ANSWER-moves ovum via peristalsis towards uterus. Fertilization occurs in ampulla, mucus nourishes ovum. Fallopian tubes structure - ANSWER-open into the abdominal cavity. Divided into 4 sections. Interstitial part- narrowest Isthmus- straight narrow Ampulla- widest and longest, fertilization occurs. Infundibulum- have fimbriae which touch the ovary. Uterus functions - ANSWER-Receives fertilized ovum and protects developing embryo. Expels during birth.
