The film I chose for my final project is "The Shawshank Redemption." The film's plot is interesting, and I think it will be a good film to analyze. Frank Darabont directed, Niki Marvin produced, and Stephen King wrote The Shawshank Redemption. Arnold Kopelson served as executive producer, and Thomas Newman composed the score. Castle Rock Entertainment was responsible for the film's production back in 1994. (Hooke 16). The Shawshank Redemption is a 1994 American prison drama film centered on the book of the same name by Stephen King. In the film, Tim Robbins plays banker Andy Dufresne, who maintains his innocence while serving a life sentence at Shawshank State Penitentiary. Andy makes pals with Red, a lifer, while he is incarcerated. The Shawshank Redemption has garnered universal praise from reviewers. The film has an average rating of 8.7 out of 10 and a "Certified Fresh" rating of 91% based on 74 critics of Rotten Tomatoes. Reviewers agree that "The Shawshank Redemption is an inspiring, genuinely rewarding prison drama with sympathetic direction, outstanding acting, and wonderful writing." The film received an 80 out of 100 on Metacritic based on 22 critics' reviews, which indicates "generally good reviews." Released in 1994, Frank Darabont's The Shawshank Redemption was directed by Tim Robbins. The novel "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption" by Stephen King is the film's inspiration. Tim Robbins plays Andy Dufresne, and Morgan Freeman plays Red in this film. Andy is wrongfully convicted of killing his wife and her lover and sentenced to life in prison at Shawshank State Prison. In the film, Andy becomes friends with Red, the prison's contraband smuggler, and learns to adapt to his new environment behind bars. Acting, plot, and direction have all been singled out for appreciation in this picture. The Shawshank Redemption lost out on all seven Oscar nominations, including Best Picture. The film, however, was a financial triumph, earning over $58 million in the United States and another $28 million overseas. Newman (239) claims that the Shawshank Redemption is one of the best movies ever. Metacritic and Rotten Tomatoes both have high marks (90 and 97%, respectively). The film missed out on all seven Oscar nominations, including Best Picture. However, the picture was a commercial triumph, bringing in over $58 million in the United States and another $28 million elsewhere (Marlina 24). The Shawshank Redemption is also considered to be a cultural artifact. The film has been praised for its story, acting, and direction. The film has been studied in film classes and analyzed by critics. The film has also been referenced in popular culture. The Shawshank Redemption is considered one of the greatest films of all time and a cultural artifact. The production techniques I observed in the film were using different cameras, editing, and sound. The different cameras created different shots that made the film more believable. The editing was smooth and
