Wat is intrafamiliaal geweld?
“Intrafamiliaal geweld (afgekort IFG) is elk dwingend, intimiderend gedrag dat uitgeoefend
wordt tegenover een gezins- of familie of (ex-)intieme partner én waarbij dit dwingend
intimiderend gedrag gepaard gaat met geweld of dreiging met geweld en een intrafamiliale
invloed heeft”

Geweld: fysiek, psychisch en seksueel geweld, alsook economische verdrukking, isolatie. Het
kan gaan over actief of passief geweld of dreiging met geweld. Het geweld kan zowel
gepleegd worden door volwassenen als door kinderen en adolescenten. Zowel kinderen als
volwassenen kunnen er het slachtoffer van zijn. Men kan zowel rechtstreeks al
onrechtstreeks slachtoffer zijn van intrafamiliaal geweld. Getuige zijn van geweld is in die zin
ook een vorm van slachtofferschap.

Intrafamiliaal: zowel partners als ex-partners, ouders (of diegenen die de ouderlijke taak
vervullen) tgov. kinderen, volwassenen tgov. ouderen, kinderen tgov. ouders en kinderen
onderling. Huisvrienden vallen buiten de afbakening van intrafamiliaal geweld.
