Every man, woman, and child can see a doctor and receive health care, paid for by the government, no matter where they live in the country and no matter how much money they have. - What is "universal health care"? Tommy Douglas, from Saskatewan, was the leader of the Co-Operative Commonwealth Federation. The program started when the CCF won a landslide victory in the 1944 provincial election. - Who was Tommy Douglas? He influenced it by, when he started devoting 70% of his first budget to social services and from there he started providing free medical, hospital and dental care for senior citizens. Douglas also funded treatment for people with cancer, tuberculosis, mental illness and venereal disease. Then in 1947, he introduced universal hospital insurance. - How did Tommy Douglas influence universal health care in Canada People didn't believe that all Canadian hospitals couldn't be covered by the government and that many doctors would lose their professional freedoms or not get paid as much. In the 1960's, Canadian women abortions were getting illegal and often dangerous every year. The Omnibus bill also changed and legalized birth control methods. They were the Korean peoples army and the Chinese peoples volunteer army in the battle of Kapyong - What did Canada do in the Korean war? Britain, France, Israel and UN peacekeeping forces - Who was involved in the Suez Crisis After the new Egyptian king seized control over the Suez canal, British french and Israel forces moved into reclaim the canal.
