A formula is a mathematical relationship that uses letters to represent amounts which can be changed
– these are called variables. For example, the formula to work out the area of a triangle.
Triangle area= bh/2
(where b represents the base of the triangle and h represents the height of the triangle).
b and h are variables because we can use different values, depending on the size of the triangle.

A function links an input value to an output value. Functions are written in function notation with the
