P3 – explain the influences of two predictable and two unpredictable major life
events on the development of an individual
Two unexpected life events
An unexpected life event is when something cannot be predicted and is therefore
unknown whether it will take place or not.
Bereavement is an unexpected life event which can happen at any time in a person’s
life, it is likely to happen more than once and it has a huge impact. The time we

comfort themselves by over or under eating, this could cause them to develop an
eating disorder whether it be avoiding food or being addicted to food. This could
cause many health problems as they may be lacking certain minerals to encourage
healthy development. They would also have a far weaker immune system.
Unexpected bereavement can also have an impact someone’s intellectual
development, this is due to an individual taking time off school or work to work
through the bereavement and for them to grieve in their own way. Therefore, they
