Aquifers(2023/2024)question n answers rated A+
Aquifers1. - correct answer An aquifer is an underground layer of unconsolidated rock that can contain or transmit ground water 2. - correct answer There are two different types of aquifers: confined and unconfined. Unconfined aquifers allow for water to seep from the surface directly into the aquifer. Confined aquifers have a layer of impermeable dirt/rock that prevents water from the ground surface to seep in. Instead the water must seep in from a further location where the layer of rock or dirt does not exist. 3. - correct answer Pore sizes are like a coffee filter, in this case they purify the ground water without dissolving the substance itself. However, like a coffee filter, if the pores are too large, it allows for unwanted material to get through. 4. - correct answer The aquifer that filters water the best is a confined one because it has the impermeable dirt/rock layer which does not allow for very much contamination. 5. - correct answer 1/7 people live off of well water. For a well, I would recommend drilling a well with a confined aquifer because even though it will be more costly and harder to install, they are less susceptible to contamination therefore making them safer.
