CACO CLASS QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Mortuary Affairs Office (MAO) - Answer- - Morticians are available 24 hours a day to provide benefits guidance and technical assistance to funeral directors and CACOs - Coordinates Navy burial area sea - Navy morticians are assigned to Navy casualty located in PERS-13 Millington, Dover Port Mortuary and USMC Casualty Branch at Quantico Decedent Affairs Office (DAO) - Answer- Provides support for the identification care and disposition of remains (obtain authorization for autopsy; preparations and submission of death certificate; preparation of remains) Memorial Service - Answer- Held for deceased members whose remains are not recoverable. Taps will be sounded and pre-folded flag will be presented. Unit Memorial Service - Answer- Ceremonial command program that honors the service of deceased military service and offer supports to grieving unit survivors. Primary Care - Answer- Fixed rate or at no cost services from mortuaries and funeral homes which includes: - removal from place of death - preparation (dressing and cosmetics) - selection of casket (metal or wood) - uniform preparation - cremation and ur - shipment of remains to places of services - shipment of remains to place of burial under military escort Secondary Care - Answer- Includes reimbursement for funeral home usage and cost of gravesit, vault. clergy persons services, opening and closing of grave, floral tribute and obituary notices.
