Forest School has different connotations to different groups of people depending on a number
of factors such as age, cognitive ability, mental health, Reason for participating…etc
A Forest School Leader fulfils the role of a facilitator who provides learning and
developmental opportunities based on their observations of the groups they interact with.
This is achieved by planning activities in advance whilst allowing for deviation from set
plans and fluidity in order to adapt to the participants emerging needs and development by
employing their skills as reflective practitioners and meta cognition to constantly strive to
provide the best outcomes for the participants of their Forest School groups.


A Forest School program is able to provide a variety of information about learning skills,
sessions, ethos, learning styles, behaviour…etc..
