John Thornton Describe the type of dog in the Northland and why they are needed. The type of dog that is in the northland is a, big, furry, and strong dog for pulling stuff. They are needed to pull the gold miners and their stuff. This was a very hard kind of dog to find in those days and they are very expensive. What kind of transaction was going on between Manuel and a man at College Park? The event that happened at College Park was a trade between the Manuel and the transporter. Manuel got one hundred dollars for Buck and after Buck was going up north. Manuel had a gambling problem so he took Buck away from his owner and sold him to the transporter. Why do you think Buck needed to be "cured" according to the man? Buck needed to be friendly to the man because he did not want to get hurt by the man. The man had to train Buck but this was a hard task because he was a big and strong dog. Buck also had the sense to attack the man because of his instincts. Why was Buck treated so poorly by all of these men, especially the man in the red sweater? He was treated badly because he attacked the men and then he was whipped and put into a crate. He was treated poor because he was aggressive. What was primitive? The simple start of the story. Back in the old days dogs were treated poor because there was no law about how to treat dogs. The dogs today get groomed and there is a law not to hurt dogs. People have been arrested for beating dogs and making them fight. Curly died because he was attacked by huge huskies in a harbor like area. Curly wasn't as big as the other dogs. This was a sad part in the story because Curly was very innocent and she was put into a bad situation. She was attacked and killed. This bigger dog is more dominant. Why were Billee and Buck driven from camp? They were driven away from the camp because Francois swung the ax and that made the dogs disperse around the area. This is how Buck and Billee were driven away from the camp. How
