P1 -I will be describing different types of teams and the benefit of teams in ASDA.

A formal team is created to achieve a certain purpose and the team is set up by the business. The team
will have rules which will need to be followed such as when the team should meet and task each
member will have to do and there will be leader who will manage the team and give out the tasks. An
example of a formal team in ASDA will be the customer service team because the team is created to
achieve a purpose which is to deal with customer issues and answer customer queries and when there’s
meeting there will be a team leader who will give out tasks such as note feedback from customers who
have a problem with a certain clothing item.

An informal team is a team not set up by the organisations and it is a group of people where there is no
leader and everyone in the team are on the same level as each other in terms of authority. An example
of an information is a group of staff going out after working in ASDA to play football with each while
being on the same team.

A temporary team is a team that is given a task for a short period of time and when the task is
completed the team will no longer be together. An example of a temporary team in ASDA could be a
production team formed to do a project where they need to develop a new product for the kids
department in the store and the team will no longer needed to be together once the task is completed.

A permanent team is a long term team that is will always be formed even when the task is completed.
People on the team will see each other on a daily basis when tasks are being given and the meeting is
taking place. An example of a permanent team in ASDA would be the finance department as they will be
seeing each other every day to deal with the budget and income of ASDA.

A virtual team is team where the individuals are not physically together and they will be connecting
through technology such as a laptop and the team is created to achieve an aim. An example of a virtual
team in ASDA could be a marketing team; As ASDA is owned by Walmart the teams could consist of
people from America, China and the uk and they could have a task of figuring out promotions that bring
more people into the stores and interesting advertisements.

A cross functional team is when workers from different functional areas join together to complete a goal
which was given by the business; the team may include workers from finance department, marketing
and customer service. They may be given the goal to increase the sales from the business and as the
departments are different more ideas can be contributed such the staff from the finance department
comparing different sale figures from previous years and finding which product sold the most, the
worker from the marketing department can create more interesting adverts and the worker from
customer service can gain feedback from the customers finding what they like and do not like in ASDA.

The benefit of teams in ASDA is that individuals can come together and contribute different ideas as
each individual is different and has different skills. It allows work to get done quicker as the task will be
split between people while each individual is given a task in order to achieve the final goal. Also when
there is a team leader it stops the team members being confused because the team leader will give out
the tasks and the team members will know what to do. For example the benefit a the finance team is
