Height RCP #16 Review Exam Step 1 - Ans-Do initial steps Step 2 (Using a standing balance scale) - Ans-- Assist resident onto scale, facing away from scale (standing backwards) -Ask resident to stand straight up ( perfect posture) - Raise the rod to a level above the resident's head - Lower the height measurement device until it rests flat on the residents head Step 3 (When resident is unable to stand) - Ans-- Flatten the bed and assist resident into a supine postion. - Place a mark on the sheet at the top of the residents head and a mark at the residents heel on the bottom of the sheet. - Measure the distance between the marks Step 4 (If resident cannot stand or lay in supine position) - Ans-Using a tape measure start by measuring at the top of the head, follow the curves of the spine and legs, measuring to the base of the heel Step 5 - Ans-Accurately record the resident height Step 6 - Ans-Do final steps
