interactions with the Environment
Trophic level: the di erent position that an organism holds in a food chain
Producer: use radiation energy from the sun to make glucose.
(Autotrophs= make own food)
Consumer: is heterotrophic( they cannot make their own food) they
consume producers or other consumers.
-There are di erent types of consumers
Primary consumers: lower trophic levels. They eat producers they are
either herbivores or omnivores
Secondary consumers: they eat primary consumers they may be
carnivores or omnivores
Tertiary consumers : eat secondary consumers mostly carnivores
Decomposers: break down dead organic matter(eg bacteria) also know as
saprophytes
Indicator species: an organism whose presence, absence or abundance
indicates a change in the condition of an ecosystem.
