1. “Influenced”
T: Would you all agree that the choices we make when we are older are affected by our
experiences when we are young/ growing up? Our childhood could affect what we
choose to do as a career or even something as simple as our favourite foods.
C: Yes.
T: Would you agree another word for affected is influence? Are you familiar with this
word?

T: Can you think of situations where you were influenced by specific experiences or
situations you found yourself in?

T: Depending on how it is used in a sentence, it could be either. For example, it would be

example, when you don’t want to listen to someone like a teacher or parent. If Sarah
never listens to her parents when they ask her to do something. She stays out after her
curfew, never cleans her room and gets into trouble all the time at school for being late
and wearing very short skirts. Is she a disobedient person, someone that does not follow
the rules, or an obedient person?

T: If someone is obedient, they follow the rules. Another word for a disobedient person
would be rebellious. How many syllables does this word have?
S: 4
T: Excellent. And is rebellious a noun?
S: It’s an adjective
T: What makes it an adjective?
S: It’s describing a person
