Person centered approach
The approach that I decided to go with is the person center approach , because I believe
that the client is the center of the work that we do and we must ensure that as
counselor or s psychologist we are truly focused and committed to the client , however
still empowering the client to make the changes needed in their life’s.
This approach is one in which the therapist dose not lead the treatment but the client ,
this empowers the client to make choices on ones on own to further develop themselves
, as well as creates a trusting relationship between the client and the therapist as the
client does not feel mislead but rather given the chance to self-actualize.
This further creates an environment of trust and openness , one where by the client and
the therapist can be transplant , this is create by the therapist holding certain values that
are continuously displayed throughout the counselling , these values are as follows ,
Empathy and congruency as well as unconditional positive regard.
