PSY260 - Media Claims Versus Empirical Facts
Through the process of the scientific method, we provide evidence to support claims, find the answers to complex questions, or further our understanding of topics/issues/phenomena. Some claims are that science has to be studied from a secular perspective and events of the past have been studied extensively, so the goal is to always seek answers for new and emerging trends and current events. Read "Religion Isn't the Enemy of Science: It's Been Inspiring Scientist for Centuries," and "The Next Scientific Breakthrough Could Come From the History Books."Read "Religion Isn't the Enemy of Science: It's Been Inspiring Scientist for Centuries," and "The Next Scientific Breakthrough Could Come From the History Books." Complete the attached chart, "Media Claims," by identifying five media claims. Then write a scientific fact that supports the claims and a scientific fact that refutes the media claim statements. Of the five media claims, at least one should be historical, and at least one should be related to religion. Cite the scholarly, peer reviewed sources from which the scientific facts were obtained using in-text citations and references formatted according to APA Style Guide.
