Description of activity undertaken
The learner carried out an interview in the role of interviewer. They interviewed another student for a job for
which the interviewer had created a job description, person specification and job advert (see P3).
The learner planned the structure of the interview including the order and type of questions
Assessment criteria targeted

interview.
1. Was the interview carried out in a logical order? – Yes. There was a logical progressions to
the interview beginning with welcoming the candidate
2. Did the interviewer ask appropriate questions? List some of those questions – All
questions asked were appropriate including ‘Can you tell me about a time when you have delivered
fantastic customer service’. They relate to the part time customer service position at Tesco and to
the knowledge skills and aptitudes of the interviewee e.g. ‘Give me an example of when you have
coped with change?’
3. Did the interviewer use good communication and listening skills? Yes throughout the
interview he listened carefully to the interviewees responses and encouraged him to give further
detail.
4. Was the interviewer well prepared for the interview? Yes in preparation for the interview
Daniil arranged the seating and positioned his laptop, page of 10 prepared questions and pen ready.
5. What did the interviewer do particularly well in the interview? Explain your answer The
interviewer was calm and clear in his introduction and in encouraging the interviewee to focus on
the question, giving clarification when required and encouraging further development of responses.
6. How could the interviewer have improved the organisation of the interview? Explain
your answer He could have confirmed the job position and details at the beginning of the
interview and ensured the interview ended promptly.
6. How could the interviewer have improved their performance in the interview? Explain
your answer The interviewer could have avoided prompting with examples of what the interviewee
might want to talk about e.g. when asking about immediate goals.
