TOPIC 6.1: Population Ecology
Population size
, Introduction
Terminology: Species, Population and
Community
Factors affecting the Size of a Population
Population Fluctuation and Regulation
Population Growth Forms
Determination of Population Size
, Population ecology refers to the ecological study of the
dynamics of populations of a single species.
In other words a particular population never remains
the same.
We will look at what these changes are and what brings
about these changes.
Therefore we will study the following aspects:
1. The number of organisms that make a particular
population and the changes that may occur with regard
to these numbers.
2. The factors that influence these changes.
3. The rate of population increase or decrease.
4. The process that keep the population size constant.
, TERM:
Population Ecology
DEFINITON: USE IN SENTENCE:
ecological study of the Population ecological helps
dynamics of populations of us understand the reasons
a single species why the population of a
single species never
remains constant
