Introduction
For this task, I am going to compare the purposes of the different documents used in the
selection and recruitment process of Tesco.
Attract
Attract documents in the selection and recruitment process aim to attract candidates to
apply for a job, which hopefully brings a greater choice of candidates for Tesco to
choose from. This makes it more likely for an ideal candidate to fill the job vacancy.
Job advert
Job adverts are used by Tesco to give candidates a brief description of a job. By
advertising the job, it reaches more people, so it attracts more candidates for the
job. A Tesco job advert aims to inform people of the salary, location and it also
gives a small description of the job. It doesn’t include specific information as its
purpose is to attract as many candidates as possible, not specific to a group of
people. This information gives the person a rough idea of the job, being the first
step into finding a job so they can
research more and look into it to see if
they want to apply. A job advert provides
the interviewer with a base for the
questions, as they can use information
from the advert to ask the candidate
questions about why the job appealed to
them.
Job description
The purpose of a Tesco job description is
to give candidates specific details about
the job. A job description includes the job
title, the location, work hours, the main
responsibilities and duties, the job
requirements and also information about
Tesco. This gives the candidate an idea of
what the job will be like if they were to
succeed in the process, hopefully
persuading them to apply for the job.
