This exercise involves planning the design of your sermon for an oral presentation. This form follows the motivated sequence outline combined with the traditional introduction-body- conclusion format. Introduction Attention One night during an intense examination of black belts this young man suddenly broke his leg falling to the ground. Everyone was shocked and did not know what to do. Even through the situation his wife was at his side holding his hand and watching his husband as he cried out in pain she said: “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28 NKJV). After he heard those words he felt comfort in his life. Need Has there ever been a time of critical situation in your life where someone needs a word from God like the person in the illustration and you just want to preach the gospel of Christ in a way that the person can feel comfort in his life? BRIDGING SENTENCES [Subject: Gospel Modifier: Advancement] Textual Idea: The apostle Paul was encouraging the Philippians believers that the gospel advance despite all the obstacles. Sermon Idea: Believers must advance the gospel despite the obstacles. Interrogative: How should believers preach the Gospel of Christ in all situations? Transition: Christ believers must preach the Gospel of Christ under all circumstances. Body Satisfaction DIVISION 1 STATEMENT Christ believers must preach the Gospel to all people no matter what is the situation (Phil. 1:12-14) Explanation The apostle Paul begins verse twelve comforting the church in Philippi, as they were concerned about him, for the things that had happened to him. What had happened to Paul? Paul wrote this letter while in prison (Acts 28:17-20). But Paul makes them see that being in the jail despite that it is not anything pleasant for him, but have had great benefits for the work of the Lord, for the advance of the Gospel. Application We must preach the gospel of Christ to all people no matter any situation so that they can know Christ and become saved. DIVISION 2 STATEMENT Christ believers must preach the Gospel with confidence and boldness (Phil. 1:12-14) Explanation The apostle Paul begins verse twelve comforting the church in Philippi, as they were concerned about him, for the things that had happened to him. Application We should be empowered by the Holy Spirit before going to preach the Gospel. Transition (Div 3 to Div 4) Christ believers must preach the Gospel of Christ under all situations. DIVISION 4 STATEMENT Christ believers must preach the Gospel with goodwill motives (Phil. 1:15-17) Explanation The apostle Paul begins verse twelve comforting the church in Philippi, as they were concerned about him, for the things that had happened to him.
