Fashion - ANSWER-A style that is accepted and used by majority of a group at any given time.
Fashion Industries - ANSWER-those engaged in producing the materials used in the production of
apparel and accessories for men, women, and children.
Marketing - ANSWER-A total system of business activities designed to plan price promote and place
products and services to present to potential customers
Fashion Merchandising - ANSWER-The planning required to have the right fashion oriented merchandise
at the right time, in the right place, in the right quantities, at the right prices, with the right sales
promotion for a specific target customer
Style - ANSWER-A characteristic or distinctive artistic expression.
High Fashion - ANSWER-A new style accepted by a limited amount of fashion leaders to adopt changes
and innovation in fashion. High fashion styles are introduced and sold in small quantities, but at high
prices. They don't appeal to the general public or average person.
Mass Fashion - ANSWER-Styles that appeal to majority of the public. These fashions are sold and
produced in large quantities, at moderate to low prices.
Design - ANSWER-An individual interpretation, version or treatment of a specific style. a style may be
expressed in many different designs, but all related because they are the same style.
Style Number - ANSWER-The number of manufacturers and retailers assigned to a design. The number
identifies the product for manufacturing, ordering, ad selling.
, Taste - ANSWER-The opinion of what is and isn't attractive and appropriate for a specific situation.
Classic - ANSWER-A style or design that satisfies a basic need and remains in general fashion for an
extended period of time.
Fad - ANSWER-A fashion the suddenly sweeps into popularity, and then quickly disappears.
Trend - ANSWER-A general direction or movement
silhouette - ANSWER-The overall outline or contour of a costume. Also frequently referred to as shape or
form.
Details - ANSWER-The individual elements that give a silhouette its form or shape. These include
trimmings; skirt and pant length and width; and shoulder, waist, and sleeve treatment.
Texture - ANSWER-The look and feel of material, woven or un-woven.
color - ANSWER-An aesthetic element and a major consideration in the design of womenâs clothing.
Fashion Cycle - ANSWER-The rise, widespread popularity, and then decline in acceptance of a style. Rise:
The acceptance of either a newly introduced design or its adaptations by an increasing number of
consumers. Culmination: That period when a fashion is at the height of its pop-ularity and use. The
fashion then is in such demand that it can be mass-produced, mass-distributed, and sold at prices within
the reach of most consumers. Decline: The decrease in consumer demand because of boredom resulting
from widespread use of a fash-ion. Obsolescence: When disinterest occurs and a style can no longer be
sold at any price
Rise Stage - ANSWER-The second stage of the fashion cycle when consumer interest grows and the
fashion becomes more readily accepted by consumers.
