House of Commons:
Within the House of Commons the public would elect MP’s to sit in the House of Commons
which would represent the interests and concerns of the public community within the area
that they are in. Members of parliament within the House of Commons would be able to
pass new laws and would be able to put forward any questions that they have on the
existing laws in the area.
House of Lords:
This is the second chamber of parliament that we have within the UK, the House of Lords would be
made up by Lords which have a big role in the laws that get made for the country. The House of
Lords would also check to see if the government was doing what they are supposed to be
Delegated legislation:
This is the law that will be made by the executive authority under the primary legislation that they
have. This legislation is a law which would be made by someone who is not a legislature, but they
would have to authority for this. Governments would then be able to make changes to the laws.
Primary Legislation:
This is when the legislative branch will make a new law and would be made by the executive branch.
Crown:
The crown is an older system which would be used by the government for when they are making
new laws, the crown would sign the law off but would not get involved with them.
Appointing a government:
The new prime minister would be elected after the public have had a general election, and then he
would be invited to meet the queen to be able to discuss forming another government.
Queens’s speech:
The queen would inform the entire parliament all of the ideas, such as legislations during her
speech, the speech would be performed by the queen but it would be written up by the
government.
Opening and dismissing parliament:
For the opening of the parliament, the crown would open up the parliamentary year and then would
dismiss the parliament before the general election was to take place. This is under the Fixed Term
Parliament Act of 2011.
