Reputational Objectives Avoid damaging, negative media coverage and disruptive strikes, retain positive relationships with regulatory authorities, customers and suppliers, does not develop an image of a poor employer. Change-Management Objectives Effectively managing change e.g. structural, cultural. Key activities include the recruitment and/or development of people with the necessary leaderships skills to drive the change process. HRM Mark 2 A particular way of carrying out the range of activities. Why is HRM important? To help managers avoid mistakes e.g. hiring the wrong person for the job, high employee turnover, employees not performing to their best capacity, having a lack of training undermine performance in teams/departments and unfair labour practices. Line Management Line managers have 'line' authority: they are authorised to direct the work of subordinates and are responsible for accomplishing the organisation's tasks.
