Class Structure (55 minutes):
1. Warm-up and Icebreaker Questions (5 minutes):
- Start the class by welcoming the students and creating a friendly atmosphere.
- Pose icebreaker questions such as:
- "What is your favourite hobby, and why?"
- "If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?"
- Allow each student to share their responses briefly.
2. Topic Introduction (5 minutes):
- Introduce the topic of personal interests and hobbies.
- Provide a brief overview and explain the importance of discussing personal interests in
English.
3. Group Discussion (15 minutes):
- Divide the class into breakout rooms, ideally with 2-3 students in each room.
- Assign a discussion prompt related to personal interests and hobbies. For example:
- "Discuss your favourite hobby and why it brings you joy."
- "Share an interesting fact about one of your hobbies."
- Instruct the students to have a conversation within their breakout rooms, taking turns
to share their thoughts and asking follow-up questions.
4. Breakout Room Activities (15 minutes):
- In the breakout rooms, encourage students to engage in a more in-depth discussion
about their personal interests.
- Suggest activities such as:
- Sharing personal stories or experiences related to their hobbies.
- Discussing challenges they have faced while pursuing their interests.
- Asking each other for recommendations or advice regarding their hobbies.
5. Group Sharing and Feedback (10 minutes):
- Bring the students back to the main session.
- Invite each group to share a summary of their discussions or any interesting points that
came up during the breakout room activities.
- Encourage other students to ask questions or provide feedback on their classmates'
interests and experiences.
