Week 8 Discussion Question
Prior to posting your answer, complete the Week 8 AACN Essentials Self-Assessment
(Links to an external site.) linked here. Compare your scores from Week 1to Week 8. How
far have you come? How will you apply this information to continue to improve your
informatics knowledge in nursing practice?
Answer:
I want to say Thank you. It has been a pleasure learning and gaining more knowledge from
Professor and to you, my dear colleagues. When I started this course, I only have a half-bred idea
about informatics in nursing. We did not have a subject on informatics nursing in my school. I
find it interesting that in my classroom and clinical experience, I have been dealing with Clinical
Information System (CIS), EHR, patient mobile apps, telenursing, and technology in general. My
score jumped to 48 in week 8 AACN Essentials Self- Assessment as compared to week 1. I
would say that I learned so much from reading the articles and the book assigned. According to
Ceyhan et al., 2021, “New practical curricula for nursing information systems should be created
by raising awareness of nurses about the benefits of the use of information technology during
their vocational training, and nurses' knowledge and skills to use information systems in in-
service training programs in the institutions should be supported. It is also recommended to use
advanced information systems such as telenursing, and the use of bed-side computer and extend
the programs for nursing practices.” Informatics in Nursing is an essential tool to achieve
optimal patient satisfaction. The nurse informaticist understands how technology can minimize
risk and enhance individual nursing performance in the delivery of safer patient outcomes
