Dear Community Members,
I am writing to address the concerns regarding the poor state of the R30 highway in
the Bodikela Municipality. The Municipal Manager has heard your voices and
understands that the condition of the highway has led to an increase in road
accidents and fatalities. We extend our deepest condolences to the families who
have lost loved ones and offer words of comfort to those who have been injured or
experienced emotional trauma due to these accidents.
I would like to assure you that the relevant authorities within the municipality have
been working tirelessly to assist with all claims related to these accidents. We are
collaborating with the Road Fund Claims and car insurance companies to ensure that
there are no unnecessary delays. Our efficient team is determined to provide the
necessary support to the community.
In response to your concerns, the Management Council of the Bodikela Municipality
has approved a budget of R10M for repairing the potholes on the R30 highway. The
repairs are scheduled to take place over a four-week period from June 1, 2023, to
June 29, 2023. During this time, the road will be partially closed to facilitate the
repairs. We kindly advise members of the community to utilize alternative roads if
possible. However, for those who cannot do so, there will be visible policing and
traffic management provided by the Bodikela Metropolice Department every morning
and afternoon for the duration of the repairs.
