Task 5 (P6 M3)

In this task, I will be creating a marketing mix proposal for a brand new product (ride) at Thorpe Park
which will be ready and launched in summer 2016. This brand new product is called the Dark Ride, it
will be complete of construction for summer 16.

The new product was planned to be launched in 2016, this product is located near the X-pyramid. This
new themed attraction in total takes up to 2,800 square metres as well as height consideration, it will
go up 10 metre maximum in to the air. Due to the fact that there are many stores including restaurants
are surrounding the X-pyramid, this means most were removed in order to gain space to build the
new themed attraction.

Marketing Mix

Product

The product which is due to open for summer 2016 is called the ‘Dark Ride’. Due to the fact that
Thorpe Park is known for having a lot of thrilling rides, this new ride will be targeted for them and
they will be able to rely on the enjoyable experience and safety of the new ride. Knowing that the
new product is called the ‘dark ride’, it gives a sense of thrill to the targeted market. The term ‘dark’
already appeals to that specific target market who enjoy thrills. Due to the fact that most of Thorpe
park consumers are a fan of thrill rides, this brand new product (the Dark Ride) will be a successful
project. Although Thorpe park mostly has thrill tides, they try to meet every target audience
including juniors, therefore they have rides which fit their age. Thorpe Park is a very popular and
trusted brand, consumers are always happy with any ideas which are offered by Thorpe Park.
Therefore, this is very important for Thorpe Park to maintain this reputation by constructing rides
with certified safety.

Place

This feature of the marketing mix is important as it includes placing the product in the right place at
the right time. In this case, Thorpe Park is located 20 miles away from central London. This makes it
not so difficult for people to visit this place, not mentioning that there are many ways in terms of
transport, these include: minicabs, trains, coaches etc. The maximum duration of transport of
arriving at Thorpe Park will be 50 minutes, mostly people travel by train which only takes those
20minutes. This makes it easy for those who live in London, especially central as most theme parks
are at least 2 hours far. Also, Thorpe park is quite different to other theme parks in a good way as its
located on the outskirts of surrey, they are permitted to construct rides up to a height of their idea
as this won’t affect anyone due to the fact that it’s an open place, whereas some theme parks are
only allowed to build rides up to a tree height. However, with Thorpe Park, they have no limits.
Therefore, the place/location of the products are almost the best place out of all of Thorpe park
competitor’s place/locations. Due to the fact that Thorpe Park is very close to London, this makes
Thorpe Park more likely to be visited than any other theme parks as London is a populated city
which means Thorpe park are most likely to achieve one of their goal of attracting ¼ million
consumers a year. This is why place for a business is important as it can attract much more
consumers and lead the competition against other businesses of the same category. The brand new
product at Thorpe Park is mainly aimed at the age group of 16 to 24. This product is aimed at this
age because this age groups are mostly in to thrill rides as well as this age group being the most
common group to visit Thorpe park the most.
