Donmar Warehouse Company Production of Julius Caesar The play Julius Caesar produced by Donmar production company, is fascinating to watch and listen to. The film is a fantastic work of art produced and created using a different approach to filming. The film was recorded live on stage and was directed by Rhodri Huw. Additional filming elements were taken care of by Phyllida, who also did additional filming. The resulting film was different from traditional live plays. The play differs from conventional theater in the sense that most of them are inflexible and static. However, this play is a dynamic play that is a hybrid of event cinema, theater, and something surprisingly more connective and intimate. Lloyd a more close-up and urgent as compared to event cinema, yet at the same time incorporating some real-life events and the audience creating a more interactive film that is enjoyable to watch and even listen to. In this essay, I discuss the implementation and usage of production elements in the play to tell the story and make me feel and think about things. The play begins in a theater with full lights on how both the actors and the audience are visible. Unlike most performances having the set at the front, the stage, in this case, is at the center of the room, unlike most plays and films. The setting makes me feel like an anticipated sports event with the spectators sited on the sides waiting for a game to begin. The film starts with the female actors playing the role of prisoners marching in a line to the middle of the stage under a female correctional officer's supervision. The play also uses all-female production, Surname 2 contrary to what most of the production companies use in their films. Watching them act made me marvel at the usage of gender in the play. Although the film utilized the female gender, the film made me look and feel that it was not about gender Shakespeare was telling in his work.
