straie - Answer- irregular areas of the skin that look like bands, stripes, or lines aka stretch marks somatic pain or parietal pain - Answer- localized pain and can be severe visceral pain - Answer- pain is dull and poorly localized. Caused by stretching of organ capsule ( liver, spleen or kidney ) peritonitis - Answer- inflammation of the peritoneum (membrane lining the abdominal cavity and surrounding the organs within it). Felt as poorly localized pain. obstipation - Answer- severe constipation, which may be caused by an intestinal obstruction ( no stool) Cullen's sign - Answer- ecchymosis in umbilical area, seen with pancreatitis Murphy's sign - Answer- pain with palpation of the RUQ during inspiration, indicative of cholecystitis costovertebral angle - Answer- 12th rib forms an angle with the vertebral column. Percussed to assess for kidney injury RUQ pain - Answer- cholecystitis( liver distention) referred pain - Answer- pain that originates in one place and felt in another hematemesis - Answer- vomiting of blood dysphagia - Answer- difficulty swallowing odynophagia - Answer- pain with swallowing jaundice - Answer- yellowish discoloration of the body murphy's sign - Answer- pain that is elicited with deep palpation of the RUQ of the abdomen during deep inspiration and expiration -indicative of gallbladder disease obturator sign - Answer- increase in abdominal pain with internal and external rotation of the hip when a patient is supine and hip and knee flexed at 90 degree angle. Indicative of acute appendicitis and peritonitis Iliopsoas sign - Answer- a test where the patient lies supine and flexes at the hip lifting the right leg. There should be no pain
