HCI 670 Topic 1 Assessment - Human Factors Engineering Paper. Health information technology (IT) has the potential to improve the health of individuals and the performance of providers, yielding improved quality, cost savings, and greater engagement by patients in their own health care. Health IT systems permit the collection of data for use for quality management, outcome reporting, and public health disease surveillance and reporting. However, improvement is needed with all health IT, especially regarding design, implementation, and integration between platforms within the work environment. Robust interoperability is critical for safe care, but this goal has proved elusive. As the implementation and use of health IT systems increase, it is important to keep patient safety and quality as a major focus. An Electronic Health record is a record of the patients and treatments given to the patients which is stored online in the cloud to access it from anywhere at any time. This actually helps the doctors to easily hand over the patient details to another doctor who treats the patient at a different time at a different place. This enables a smooth workflow. There are a lot of inter-operable PHR (patient health record) which is being used by many practicians which also helps the patients to know what medications they have been receiving. this will also provide them of an overview of the self health analysis. While an EHR does contain the medical and treatment histories of patients, an EHR system is built to go beyond standard clinical data collected in a provider’s office and can be inclusive of a broader view of a patient’s care (Petersson & Backman, 2021). One of the most famous and fast growing EHR is the blueEHR. BlueEHR is an Electronics health records software that helps this done easily. The best part of this EHR is that it is customizable to the physician or doctor’s needs. And that is one thing that most of the other top EHR software do not provide.
