Summary Sheet of Ketones, Aldehydes, Carboxylic Acids, Acyl Chlorides, Acid Anhydrides and Esters, A-Level Chemistry

This summary sheet provides a detailed revision of Carbonyls and Carboxylic Acids, taken from Chapter 26 of the OCR A-Level Chemistry textbook, although the material is applicable to any exam board. This revision sheet consists of a concise and clear summary of the Aldehydes and Ketones, including: their oxidation and reduction reactions, and testing using Tollens' Reagent. This is followed by the reactions and relevant tests for Carboxylic Acids, Esterification, the Hydrolysis of an Ester with displayed formula and colour-coordinated notes. This sheet also covers the Acyl Chlorides, their reactions, and finally the Acid Anhydride production, including necessary reactants and conditions. I'd recommend using summary sheets in conjunction with practice papers to make the most out of your revision. This sheet helped me reach an A in the exam.
