INTRODUCTION
Welcome to the module: Introduction to Grade R Teaching (GRT1501).
This is the first module for all students registered for the Diploma in Grade R Teaching.
In this module, we only have one tuition and assessment period. This is a one year module
with online assessment only.
This Tutorial Letter will provide you with important information about your formal assessment
(the assignments). This module is fully online, which means that all activities must be
completed online.
ASSESMENTS
As indicated in section 9.2 of Tutorial Letter 101, you need to complete FOUR (4)
assessments for this module. Assessments are regarded as part of the learning material for
this module. As you do the assignments, you are actively engaged in learning. Looking at the
assessment criteria and the mark allocation rubrics given for each assessment will help you
to gain a clear understanding of what is required of you.
ASSESSMENT 1
Assessment 1 comprises multiple-choice questions (MCQs). These questions are designed
to help you work through the entire study guide. You will find most of the answers in your
study guide and your prescribed reader, and it is possible to obtain full marks. Some
questions require an application, though, and in these instance the answers may not be found
in the study guide. MCQs make an important contribution to the teaching and learning
experience of students in that they are a way of assessing both simple knowledge and
complex concepts, as well as both detailed and specific information related to the module.
Another benefit is that these questions can be answered quickly and can assess your mastery
of many topics in a short time. However, MCQs are not about guessing!
Submission of this assessmnt will enable you to gain admission to the examination.
Assessment 1 is a multiple-choice assignment based on your study material/study
guide.
Complete Assessment 1 online/electronically via myUnisa. Assessments may
not be faxed or submitted by post or e-mail.
