THE HISTORY OF ABBAS IBN FIRNAS AND HIS
CONTRIBUTION TO AVIATION AS AN
INSPIRATION FOR MODERN SCIENTISTS

Science and technology are a very important part of human life. Technological
innovation has a great influence on the progress of a nation's civilization.
History has proven that Islamic civilization has made many valuable
contributions to world civilization. Islamic civilization has given birth to many
great scientists who contributed in various fields such as philosophy, medicine,
mechanics, biology, astronomy, geography, psychology, and geology. Research
conducted by scientists today proves that human civilization at that time could
not be separated from the devotion of Islamic scientists in the advanced
Islamic civilization in the past.
One of the most rapid developments in the field of technology is
transportation. Transportation is very important for human life today. To move
from one place to another, humans need a means of transportation, a distance
of several tens of kilometers that humans must travel always using animals
such as camels and horses, but it will take a lot of time. If you travel very long
distances, it takes days or even months to move between cities by riding
animals as a means of transportation. Transportation is developing very
rapidly, starting with land, air and sea transportation. To cross the ocean,
humans need a means of transportation that can take them on a journey and
in a very short time. To bend distances and times more sophisticated
technology is needed, so humans must expand transportation and existing
technologies to introduce transportation innovations as a way to shorten
distances and times. Flight is a means of travel for long distances such as
between continents and between countries, the history of aviation is known to
the world by the name of aircraft engines and the first human flight was
carried out by the Wright brothers Orville (August 19, 1871) - January 30, 1948)
and Wilbur (April 16, 1876 - May 30, 1912) were two brothers from America
and recognized worldwide, recognized as the inventors of the aircraft they
successfully built and flew on December 17, 1903. So much so that only in
1903 there were planes that could transport passengers and goods between
continents.
