, TITLE:
LEARNING IN THE INFORMATION AGE
THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN LOCUS OF CONTROL AND UBUNTU AND
WHETHER THESE NOTIONS RELATE TO LEARNING STYLE OF LEARNERS
FOR LIFE – A CORRELATION STUDY.
ABSTRACT:
Human populations in the modern era are called lifelong learners due to their need and ease
of access to information. However, in South Africa socio-economic problems plague the
country and thus making learning difficult and often unattainable. This study explores the
relationship between Ubuntu and locus of control, their relationship to an adult individual’s
learning style in order to make learning easier for the general population. A convenience
sampling method was selected by using twenty individuals from a variety of backgrounds,
age, cultures, languages, and gender. Each individual was asked to complete four
questionnaires. A correlation analysis technique was used to determine the relationship
between ubuntu and locus of control and whether these notions relate to an individual’s
learning style. The results showed a significant link between locus of control and Ubuntu.
