NSAIDs (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs) - Answer Most commonly prescribed drug for musculoskeletal pain. Analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic effects. Examples: Motrin/Advil, Aleve, Discalced, Indocin. COX-2 Inhibitors - Answer less GI irritation than NSAIDs. May have secondary relationship to heart conditions. Examples: Methotrexate, leflunomide, chloroquine, TNF inhibitors, Enabrel, Humira Proton pump inhibitor (PPI) - Answer supresses gastric acid secretions; also used for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Examples: Aciphex, Prevacid, Prilosec, Protonix neuroleptic - Answer modifies psychotic behavior. Examples: Risperdal, Zyprexa, Stelazine SSRIs (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) - Answer selectively inhibits serotonin reuptake from synaptic gap and results in potentiation of serotonergic neurotransmissions. Examples: Luvox, Paxilo, Prozac, Zoloft
