Recruitment: The Process of finding people to work for a company or become a new
member of an organisation
.Recruitment and selection process
1) Identify the vacancy
At the start of the process, the business identifies a need to fill a vacancy
(a new department or new product, someone is leaving and needs to be replaced

↳ Maternity leave
2) Write a job description
- Include all the responsibilities and workload of the position
- Lists the task and activities the person will need to complete and any outcomes
or results they need to achieve
3) Write a person specification
This outlines the

⧫Qualifications
⧫Work experience
⧫Skills
- Outlines the right kind of person for that job and the skills and personal qualities
they will need to do it well
4) Advertise the vacancy
- Inside the company= in a corporate newsletter, via e-mail, they may be
announced in meeting
- Outside the company to expand the pool of candidates to choose from=
newspaper, speciality magazines, online, jobsite, job centre ect…
5) Candidate apply
Candidate may have to send off a CV (summary of their work life to date, now some
business ask for a video CVs), an application form and a letter of application (also
known as Cover letter, helps give the business more information about your skills
and experience and your reasons for wanting to apply for the vacancy).
6) Candidates are shortlisted
They are shortlisted according to how well their application fit the person specification
and the job description.
A shortlisting scoring grid will be used with candidates scored according to desirable
and essential qualities.
7) Candidates are interviewed
This may include a face-to-face interview with a panel or just one person.
This may be a telephone interview or via skype/Zoom
8) Candidates may participate in another recruitment activity
➺Assessment centres (candidates will take part in a series of team
building
