, The Richest Man In Babylon
Introduction
As an overview, our author George Samuel Clason, who was born and raised in The US
Louisiana, Missouri, on November 7, 1874. He served in the military during the
SpanishAmerican war. Not only did he publish this extraordinary book in 1926, but also he
published plenty of a famous series of pamphlets, which was published by banks and insurance
companies. In addition, his books got much appeal.
As a starting point, George informs us that a nation’s financial success crucially depends
on each and every citizen’s prosperity, and his book deals with the individual’s prosperity . The
following few pages will take us back to Babylon, as the introduced some financial principles
that we use till this day. Babylon became the richest nation, since each one of them was
significantly rich, they were the richest of their time. As an explanation, they learned how to
make money, make their money make more money, and save their money.
When it comes to wealth, you mostly will assume that their wealth was depending on
natural resources, such as, gold mines, forests and crops, and tons of jewels. However, that was
not the case, as Babylon had only one river with no forests and every thing there was
manmade. Nevertheless, Babylon had sought two main natural resources, which was rivers and
making one of the greatest engineering accomplishments back then y means of dams and
immense irrigation canals, and reaching the water to the fertile soil. Furthermore as a good luck,
Babylon was ruled by some successful row of kings, who maintained this wealth, and all their
wars were either some civil wars or defensive wars against ambitious conquers.
Unfortunately, after many years Babylon does not exists anymore, after those who lived
there were just withdrawn. Nowadays, Babylon is just a flat desert like Arizona in The US, as it’s
geography is not that great; located east to the Suez canal, north of the Persian Golf, thirty
degrees above the equator. Since the Christian era, this once a fabulous wealthy city is
nowadays just a desert with some sheep herds and travelers.
Scientists consider Babylon to be the oldest civilization ever with about 8000 years of
existence. The Babylonians were educated and pioneers in many fields, for instance, the had
predicted once a sun eclipse, they also were the first engineers, the first astronomers, the first
mathematicians, the first financiers and the first people to have a written language. Moreover,
their fascination irrigation system had transformed the desert of Babylon valley and some
surrounding areas from deserts into great cities with great agriculture, before they abandon the
city to turn back to dust.
