Scoliosis
Definition:-
Scoliosis is a Greek word means crooked, defined as a lateral deviation
(Curvature) of the normal vertical line of the spine, Associated with a
rotation of the vertebrae and it has a 3D deformity of the spine
(Sagittal-Frontal and coronal).
المفروض ميبقاش في، معناها العصايه اللي الراجل بيمسكها و هو ماشيCrooked كلمه-
Scoliosis كده يبقي فيLateral Curvature فالما يبقي فيSpine فالCurvature
exaggeration و لو حصلDorsal kyphosis موجودNormally برضوا حاجه مهمه
Pathology و دا يعتبرkyphosis يبقي كدا اسمه
Non-Structural وال لStructural داscoliosis نقطه مهمه الزم نحدد هل ال
Spine بتوع الeyes كمان الVertebrae فالRotation يبقي فيstructural لو
بيسموها عيونAntroposterior اللي بتظهر فالTwo pedicles هماVertebrae(
و دا معناهRotated يبقي معناها ان هيOne eye طيب لما تبانowl sign)( البومه

Incidence of idiopathic scoliosis:-
-develops between age 8-15 (growth spirit).
-7 times more prelevant in females.
-80% of scoliosis origin is unknown.
-مبدايا كلمه idiopathicمعناها مرض غير معروف سببه ،ال scoliosis
بيحصل ف %10من ال population
70%من حاالت ال Scoliosisبتكون femalesخصوصا فمرحله ال
pubertyالل هي من 18-14سنه ،فمرحله االعداديه و الثانويه بتالقي
البنات جايه تشتكي من العوجه اللي فالضهر مش من ال Painيعني الشكوي
بتكون كالتالي ان في كتف اعلي من كتف او في حته فالضهر نازله عن الحته
التانيه ،و كمان بيشتكوا من حاجة اسمها dorsal fatigabilityيعني بيحسوا
بضعف و ارهاق و هما قاعدين ،و كمان بيشتكوا من interscapular pain
خاصه فالحاالت ال Dorsal scoliosisو بيكون Dull aching
painفحاالت ال severe scoliosisتيجي البنت تقولك انا حاسه ان في
رجل اطول من الرجل التانيه بس فالحقيقه محصلش الكالم دا الي حصل ان
ال Pelvisحصل فيه Tiltingنتجيه ال Scoliosisفبيبقي ظاهر ان في
رجل اطول من الرجل التانيه

→As we know vertebral Column has 33 Vertebrae which are:-
7Cervical, 12 Thoracic, 5 Lumbar, 5 Sacral, 4 coccygeal.
**What’s so special about scoliosis??
-Effects 10% of population.
-Mortality role of 15 % .
- Decrease life expectancy by 19 years.
-A study in 1988 revealed that 12% of college age women had scoliosis.
*Normal alignment of spine:-
-All Spinous process all line up in straight line over the sacrum.
*Scoliosis is a combination of →Angular displacement.
→Lateral displacement.
Types of scoliosis according to site:-
1-Dorsal spine 2-Lumbar spine
