In this assignment I will evaluate the usefulness of the documents in the interview pack for
McDonalds as my chosen organisation in order to support the interview process.

Job advertisement:

A job advertisement is a way to create awareness of a job so that people can know about it. It can
either be free of cost as the businesses can post a note on their window if they are targeting local
residents. However if they are targeting a larger audience then McDonalds would have to pay for the
advertisement through their chosen medium such as newspaper. The main purpose is to recruit
qualified and experienced people so that they can run the business successfully. All the recruitment
is done by the business’s Human Resource Department.

Advantages

Online advertising can target a huge audience through the use of an online job board. They attract
hundreds of thousands of candidates every month, so advertising your job online and reaching a
large amount of candidates across the whole of the UK with your job posts couldn't be easier. This
will create more awareness of the vacancy and more people will apply and McDonalds will find the
most suitable candidate for the job. Another advantage is that it creates awareness of the business
as well because when people will see the advertisement of the vacancy and even if they don’t get
through the interview process, at least they will know about the business and will shop from
McDonalds in future. Job advertisement also gives the candidate the information they needed about
the job before their can apply for the vacancy. This helps the interview to take less time as the
interviewer won’t have to answers the questions which already have in the advertisement.

Disadvantages:

The disadvantage of advertising is that the candidate won't know much about the job before he/she
can apply for it. This will make the candidate nervous as they won’t be familiar with the questions as
they won’t have much knowledge of the job. Another disadvantage is that the people who live far
won't be interested in the vacancy which means it will be waste of money to advertise in to far
areas. If this happens then the business won’t get many people applying for the vacancy, which
means the business might not find the best candidate for the job.

Job advertisement can be improved if McDonalds include all the important details which a candidate
need before they apply for the job, so that the candidate has all the details about the job which he is
going to apply for, for example salary/paid holidays

In my opinion advertisement is useful because if creates awareness of the vacancy as well as the
business. Online advertisement targets large number of candidates to apply for the vacancy which
means lots of people will give interview and the business will have lots of options to pick the best
candidate after the interview process.

Job Description:

Job description is a document that includes all the details of the job so that people can know about
the job and if they are qualified for it or not and make the decision to apply for it. It mainly consists
