and then I will evaluate the experience of planning and participating in the recruitment and
selection process.
What planning was involved in the recruitment and selection process?
Planning for an interview is the most important element of a job as when candidates are
short listed they are called for an interview where the interviewer can assess them properly.
It is very important for the candidate to be familiar with his CV and have done some research
about the company and job role he has applied for. If planned properly then the candidate
seems to be confident and there are less chances of errors from the interviewee.
The planning that was involved in the recruitment and selection process is where we had to
get in a group of 3 in order for us to do the interview; my group was made up of 3 which was,
Hamid, Bilal and Me. We had to decide on who would play each role, I decided to take the
role of the panel member, Hamid took the role of the chair person and Bilal had the role of
the interviewee applying for the job role. We also had to write up different open and close
questions to ask the interviewee during the interview, we also had to write up the answers
for the questions so that Bilal could answer them correctly without making a mistake.
We also needed to create and print out documents that we need to use in the in the
interview such us:
CV – Of the interviewee
Job Description
Personal Specification
Job advert – We had to make a job advert for the job role that the interviewee was
applying for.
Check list – To score the interviewee’s performance and what is expected of them.
Question sheet – of the different questions that the panel member and chair person
would be asking the interviewee.
Why is planning for selection and recruitment process important?
Planning for the selection and recruitment process is important because good planning for
anything, for example if a business was recruiting applicants they might consider having
interviews, this would mean that the interviewers would need to come up with a verity of
questions to ask the applicants. Therefore the interviewers would need to plan everything
that the interview would consist of which would include time, questions to ask, check list and
etc…This would avoid the business from having any disorganised problems getting carrying
out, for example booking interviews from two different applicants at the same time. It would
also mean that the things that are being carried out from the plans for the interview would
mean that it has a good chance of it being effective. Planning is also important because
everyone is clear on what is being carried out, happing and it also makes sure that activities
are to be continued even if the main people of the group leave or are not there. A good plan
will show that aims and objectives that have been set have been achieved successfully; who
takes which role and the responsibilities that it comes with, how the progress is being
observed, the different resources that are required, things that need to be done, and its
actions that are taken and etc… these are all the things that a good plan would show.
How well did the group handle the planning stage of the recruitment and selection
process?
At the beginning we had problems on deciding who was going to play the different job roles.
By the end of it we were able to say that me (Fatima) was going to be the panel member,
