9.1 Inleiding
De nier is een orgaan met een groot aantal zeer uiteenlopende functies. Om de nierziekten adequaat te kunnen
behandelen, moeten de anatomie en fysiologie van de nier en methoden van nieronderzoeken bekend zijn.
Gezien de complexiteit ervan wordt hier eerst nader op ingegaan en zal bij de bespreking van de verschillende
aandoeningen hier voortdurend op worden teruggegrepen.
