Note to Teaching Staff: As you can see the list of services is fairly extensive. It is not envisioned that all of these will
be required, but 2 from each category would be a good start.

All designers will need custom laptops for home HIGH – a requirement for the company is that many of their
working and multiple office roles. (HARDWARE) designers work from home. By giving their designers a high
specification laptop, this means that they will have the ability to
do their work effectively. In addition, the company can make
sure that any VPN software is installed, as well as the installed
Operating System is the same as used in the office and is up to
date with the latest security. Most importantly an Anti-Virus can
be run remotely on the computer at all times so that when the
designers connect to the company it will minimise the risk of
the network being infected by so many remote computers. In
addition, because a designer could be a team leader on another
project they will need to be mobile in the office, so laptops will
be vital.
Designers will need graphics tablets and/ or MEDIUM – the designers should be able to work faster and
touchscreen monitors. (HARDWARE) more effectively with graphics tablets and pens than they will
be with mice and keyboards. Some designers might prefer to
use their own systems however and so these should be made
available on request
High specification laptop for the Managing HIGH – The MD of the company will need to be able to view
Director. (HARDWARE) reports and perform his or her day to day duties quickly and
effectively. Although the do not need a high spec device as they
will only be using office software, as the MD of the company it
is vital that they can access their work quickly and effectively.
Also, if they need to work from home or be in meetings, having
a portable laptop will be essential.
Encrypted file server. (HARDWARE) HIGH – the designs created for clients will need to be stored
while the project is ongoing and therefore will need to be
stored on networked file server which is encrypted to keep the
information secure. The file server will also need to be backed
up regularly to make sure no information is lost.
Vey high specification laptops for the Project HIGH – as the PM needs to meet with clients to discuss the
Managers. (HARDWARE) projects it is possible that these meetings will need to take
place on a client site, and so a laptop is essential. If the Project
Manager is reviewing designs from clients it is possible that
they will also need graphics software installed that will require
a large hard drive and a lot of RAM and a powerful GPU. The
