V ATI TEAS MATH CONVERSIONS Conversion questions are directly and indirectly asked throughout the ATI TEAS. The exam will ask applicants to take one value and create the same value in a different form. Conversion questions can include decimals to percentages, fractions to percentages, and fractions to decimals. It’s important to understand how to convert these operations to answer most mathematic questions throughout the exam. ATI TEAS MATH CONVERSIONS CONVERTING Decimals to fractions For example: 0.25 = 1/4 To convert a decimal to a fraction is a three-step process with optional fourth step. Step 1: Remove the decimal point two places to the right For example: 0.25 -> 25 Step 2: Use the converted number as a numerator For example: 0.25 = 25/denominator Step 3: Add 100 in the denominator portion of the fraction For example: 0.25 = 25/100 Step 4 (optional): Simply the fraction. Some questions will ask for you to simplify the fraction. For example: 25/100 = ¼ ATI TEAS MATH CONVERSIONS CONVERTING FRACTIONS AND PERCENTAGES For example: 25% = 1/4 Converting a percentage to a fraction is a three- step process. Step 1: Move the decimal place value two places to the left 25% = 0.25 Step 2: Remove the decimal and place the remaining number in the numerator of a fraction 0.25 = 25 = 25/denominator Step 3: Divide the remaining number by the denominator 100 25/100 Step 4 (optional): Simply the fraction. Some questions will ask for you to simplify the fraction. 25/100 = 1/4
