For this practical you will need:
● A food sample;
● A pestle and a mortar;
● A beaker;
● Recently boiled water;
● Benedict’s solution;
● Biuret solution;
● Iodine solution;
● Sudan III;
● Distilled water;
● Dropping pipette;
● Filter paper;
● Testing tubes
Safety: Wear goggles during this experiment
M e t h o d
1. Take a very small piece of your food and break it down
even further with a pestle and a mortar. Add some
distilled water to this and try to get a paste.
2. Filter this and add the filtrate into 4 different testing
tubes.
