Planning: Patient confidentiality, privacy, and security are held at an upmost level at a patient care center. A HIPPA training policy will be implemented to maintain that upmost level. New hires will attend a training within their two-week orientation and existing employees will attend an annual training. Organizing: The new HIPPA policy will be organized by Human Resources. A memorandum will include the new policy and sent out. Human Resources will ensure all personnel have the proper login credentials for access to network. Human Resources will also schedule the training onsite in a classroom. If a breach were to occur with an employee, the employee will be seen by Human Resources to reinforce HIPPA policy, understand, and another training module to complete. Directing: Training will consist of a PowerPoint presentation, modules, and videos. Flyers will be available in all areas of the workplace as a remainder and to reinforce compliance. Training will be group involved during the training with questions and answers. Controlling: Human Resources will document date, time, and progress during training into each employee online file. A self-check quiz will be administered after training. The quiz will include 20 questions involving in training that was given. A score of 100% is required, if not another training and quiz will be conducted for employee/s. If employee cannot pass or refuses, employee can be terminated due to the importance of HIPPA. After the training, an instructor and material survey will be handed out to the employee/s to complete. The survey will consist of presentation message and feedback from employee/s. A1a. There are appropriate types of PHI that can be shared between staff. Sharing medical records is appropriate between staff. A patient’s demographics are also included. Demographics include name, address, date of birth, and social security number. And lastly, insurance information can be shared. A1ai. In the workplace, patient information should be shard in a discrete and securely. Privacy rights must always be maintained. Examples of areas to share information would be a private conference room, a private digestated area, or a private examination room. A1aii. According to HIPPA there are authorized individuals that can disclose and utilize patient protected health information without violating the rules and regulations of HIPPA. Health plans, healthcare providers, and healthcare clearinghouses. Health plans provide or pay the cost of medical care. Healthcare providers are assisting with an individual’s care. Lastly, healthcare clearinghouses provide the services to health plan or care.
