Enter the results from the heart rate activity above. Resting Heart Rate- 89 10 Seconds Heart Rate after 3 min Exercise- 26 Respiration rate for 1 minutes (Breaths per minute)- 40 Pulse rate after resting for 5 minutes - 85 Respiration rate for 1 minute - 23 Describe the function of the cardiovascular system and the respiratory system and how they work together. The cardiovascular system consist of the heart, blood vessels and blood and it has four main functions. It functions to pump material throughout the body and is designed specifically to transport blood to various parts of the body. “The movement of materials facilitates the delivery of vital materials, such as oxygen and nutrients, to the cells of the body and the removal of cellular wastes. Finally, the circulatory system functions to return excess tissue fluid, often in the form of lymph, to general circulation” (Colbert, Ankney, & Lee, 2013). The respiratory system consist of organs responsible for taking in oxygen and expelling carbon dioxide. The primary organs of the respiratory system are lungs, which carry out this exchange of gases as we breathe (Zimmerman, 2018). “The circulatory system and the respiratory system work closely together to ensure that organ tissues receive enough oxygen. Oxygen is required for cellular functions. The air breathed in and held in the lungs is transferred to the blood. The blood is circulated by the heart, which pumps the oxygenated blood from the lungs to the body. Additionally, the two body systems work together to remove carbon dioxide, which is a metabolic waste product” (Lysis, 2018). Describe how the cardiovascular system adjusts to meet the demands of exercise. Use appropriate terminology such as stroke volume, respirations, and pulse. Stroke volume is the amount of blood that is pumped out of your heart with each beat. Both your heart rate and stroke volume increase during exercise which increases your cardiac output. Your respiration, or breathing rate, is also increased to bring more oxygen to your lungs. Describe why an untrained person’s heart rate and breathing rate would take longer to return to a resting rate compared to a person who is in good physical condition. The heart rate of a fit person returns to normal rhythm faster than that of an untrained person because of the training re
