Article: Patrick McGee (4 August 202), ‘The women calling out Apple’s handling of
misconduct claims’

How valuable is Human Resources in major organizations? A
dive into Apple’s substandard human resource department

Beginning of 2018, the hashtag “#Metoo” encouraged Apple employee’s
victims of misconduct to come forward. Fast forward a few years, here’s what we
know. These claims started off as being employee versus employee, however they
energetically became employee vs company. This is due too little to no actions being
taken by human resources towards these claims. This feeling became distinctly
widespread, in fact so much so that the number of claims were being described as “a
tsunami of miscellaneous claims against Apple” by a lawyer at a major law firm in
California, these claims. This essay will take you through the analyzation and
evaluation of Apple’s example in order to create a solution, and is intended to raise
awareness on the subject matter.

Jerome M, Adams states that on average, an employed US adult spends more
than 50% of their awake time at work. This sheds light on workers wellbeing as such
extended periods of time dedicated to a specific occupation has to have an impact
on the individual.

You may wonder why an outside of workplace topic is relevant to the workplace. For
a business to be successful it must make profit, the amount of money made or lost
depends on many variables who all depend on employees. Not only are employees
important due to their role in manufacturing or creating product and services but
they also represent the view and feelings of consumers as consumers will usually feel
closer to the employees than the executives. Having employees as the base
foundation of a business means that without them the process of making profit is
flawed. However, we can argue that all parts of a business are essential, therefore
creating a hierarchy different to the traditional one who’s role is to measure the
level of power, but rather an unofficial hierarchy to measure the level of the
individual’s role importance to the money-making process.

This is particularly important: knowing that employees represent the main workforce
tackling money making procedures means that the main goal for compagnies is the
improve efficiency and performance in order to maximize profits. To go about doing
that infrastructure have to be put in place, to make sure employees are in the best
possible workplace conditions, this department is called Human Resources (HR).
