Internalized misogyny
People always want to be more than just a number. To feel special,
they do unconventional things such as wearing crazy outfits or color
their hair into a fun color. One of the most toxic ways to do this is by
saying things such as “I’m not like other girls. You know, I’m just
one of the boys and feminists make me embarrassed to be a
woman.”
When one says things like this, they’re contributing to a phenome-
non called internalized misogyny.
Misogyny is the hatred of or prejudice against women or girls.
When this misogyny becomes internalized, it means that a woman
starts to believe that they are inferior to men.
A good example of internalized misogyny is the color pink.
There is nothing more feminine than pink. Girls tend to go through a
phase where they are anti-pink. They want all their stuff to be blue.
They will fight their mom over not wearing that ugly PINK sweater to
school and will not play with pink toys.
Another good example is K3. When I was a young girl, I was ob-
sessed with their movies and songs. But once I knew what the op-
posite sex thought of them, I stopped listening to them and called it
music for babies. Why is this, you may ask? Girls have been condi-
tioned to care much more about boys’ opinions than their own.
Girls can never enjoy their interests. Just try naming one hobby a
girl can have without getting made fun of.
Even when they get older this is still a thing: If women don’t act like
men they’re not as cool.
This is also shown in movies. The “cool girl” is often portrayed as
someone who doesn’t care about hyper feminine stuff such as
makeup and clothes. They know how to drink, fight and curse.
If this is what men like, why don’t they just date each other?
